Look of the Day – 10.17

Hey guys!  Today my look is inspired by Indyra. Indyra recently came out with the Amory Mix & Match Cocktail Set with leather mini dresses, cashmere scarves & handbags in a variety of colors.

I chose to wear the black mini dress with a red scarf and the ruby colored bag. Because I chose to wear black boots, I wanted to give a pop of color. I really like this lipstick that I got from Deesses a while back during a hunt – it too helps give my overall look  some accented color. You can tell that I’ve been in the mood to feature short hair as of late. This hair comes from Tableau Vivant.

LIFE 2 – Eat, drink, and be merry through interaction

Hey guys! I have wanted to talk about [LIFE2] since the beginning of the summer, but as we all know, things happen. I was introduced to this interactive HUD probably because I like food – and there is a lot of it for LIFE ^^ I am not sure when LIFE started, but I do remember at one point there were merchants advertising “LIFE-friendly” furniture and the like.

I went to the Life Sim earlier because one of my friends had recently rented a new place, and I had the idea to show him a place that resembled a RL supermarket. He was excited because he saw many things that could be used as home decor.

LIFE 2 came out in June, which was right around the time when I was introduced to it. According to their Facebook page, “[ L I F E ] HUD is a changing the way you enjoy Second Life. We give your avatar each of the following essential needs; Hunger, Thirst, Bladder, Hygiene, Energy, and Entertainment. Each of these are needs that you will encounter with your use of the HUD that you must satisfy and are essentially the foundation for continuing progress in the LIFE Hud and Unlocking all the fun things we’ll be adding to it as we progress. “

Some people may like the fact that in Second Life, we don’t need to sleep, eat, or shower. Others may want a more “realistic” experience to bring people closer together.

So what do you get when you buy LIFE2?

Just Resting my Eyes

I had heard that It All Starts with a Smile was back open, so I decided to go check it out. It is now on the Tramonto sim. While exploring I chatted with a couple of people. The last time I was there I did not see anyone. I suggest that all of you guys should come check it out – great for taking pictures or to just take a break from what you are doing.

 The new round of Shiny Shabby starts tomorrow (so don’t kill me when you can’t get in yet). I decided to show you guys some of the things that they have this time around. I’m into tousled hair lately, so Tableau Vivant is great for that sort of thing. And I liked the ruffled collar and the open back (sorry you can’t see of the Dorothy shirt.

 There are people who say that all bloggers do is to talk about the positive aspects of the things that they blog about, and nothing negative. I will say that an issue that I struggle with now is

1. What mesh clothing will go with other mesh clothing that I am wearing?
and
2. What mesh clothing will go with my Maitreya Lara body?

Even finding pants to go with the shirt that I am wearing AND my mesh body was tricky.  No wonder there are people who have not embraced mesh as of yet. As I said before, from now on when I look for clothing, I look to see can it fit my mesh body. I assume that it can fit my system one (wouldn’t THAT be funny if it didn’t?), so I don’t try it on that body for the most part.

Spring Sales in Second Life

I’ve been making my rounds in SL since I’ve returned. One thing that I have noticed that there are a lot of sales happening on the grid right now. You may want to check on Seraphim to see how many there are, but I will mention a few here to start things off.

I first checked out the sales at Glam Affair and Tableau Vivant. This is the notecard that was sent out:

There is a huge sale happening at Glam Affair and Tableau Vivant! Sale will start at 9am SLT today and end at 9am SL on April 27th.
Almost everything is on sale for 50% off. The only exceptions are Accessories, Gachas, Appliers and the latest Glam Affair release, Katra. Also not on sale are releases currently at any events or specialty release at Maitreya or Lelutka.
The sale is limited to items at Mainstore location.
After the sale, Tableau Vivant will be removing older hair styles from the store and placing them for sale only on Marketplace.

The Hipster Fair 2015

At Night

Hey guys! A few nights ago, I had a dream…it was the first time in a while that I remembered anything. Afterwards, I thought about what a friend recently told me. She said that for her new job in her ideal career, she would have to spend a significant amount of money and time traveling there. The dream made me think of the following question:

Would you be willing to work fewer hours, less pay, and/or more time traveled to work at a place that you consider ideal? Or would you rather what’s considered a standard job (40 hours/week, 9 am-5 pm)?

I was outside of what seemed to be an auditorium, waiting to be allowed inside. People were dressed in business attire, and it reminded me of some seminars that I had attended in the past. People entered and sat on fold-up chairs and as they sat the leader would give them a task based on their abilities. Someone that was right before me was assigned to promoting the event and making everything look pretty. The leader asked me to follow her outside and I thought she was going to ask me about web design since I had it on my resume.
When I came outside she was sitting at the table. She accused me of being lazy because I was only working one day a week. I said it was hard to find jobs out there. She scoffed and said my task was to meet with her once a week and show proof that I was looking for a job. When I complained she said I had gotten a scholarship to the program so I should be thankful. I was about to blow up at her when I woke up.
I  had mixed feelings about the dream. On one hand, despite her lack of people skills, she was actually trying to help me look for a job. On the other hand, I had never asked for a scholarship and she had made some serious judgments against me because I didn’t fit into her box. I guess we all have our moments when people judge us for what they see on the surface. They assume one thing instead of asking why we choose to do certain things, not just our career choices.

Autumn Leaves hunt

 

Sightseeing at Sacred

Hello everyone! Have you all done the Autumn Leaves hunt over at ghee? If you haven’t, you still have time! The hunt started on September 19th, and you have all the way up until November 30th to do the hunt. But why would you wait so long when you can wear some of these items now for only 10L each?

 

 

I think it is hard to find quality hunts nowadays in Second Life, but I think there is something for everyone here. Nails, shoes, coats, sweaters, hats – everything you need to look fashionable for this SL season.

The sim that I am on is called Cherry Waves. Sophia Harlow was kind enough to let us explore her sim for a short period of time. If it’s still open, I would go check it out – it has all the elements for what you would want in an autumn sim. I even found the famous coffee shop from 8f8 – one of the popular items from last month’s Arcade ^^

Today I decided to go with minimal makeup for a bare and fresh look. I imagined if it was early in the morning on a typical fall day and it was a lot of mist outside, I probably wouldn’t feel like dressing up too much because of the weather.

My Retreat

Watching flurries outside the window

Hey guys! There’s been a lot going on lately, with RL (classes have started again) and SL. I was happy to have been asked to do some consulting for a new fitted mesh breasts brand (yay!). Also, after what seems like months (really weeks, but SL time moves quickly as we all know), my boyfriend has been able to come back inworld so now we are making arrangements to live together. But first, he had the idea of going to a winter retreat for a week. He’s good at finding places to visit 🙂

Our winter cottage @ KAMRAIN Properties

From what we saw as we were looking, Kamrain Properties has houses for rent anywhere from 550L to 1250L a week. This is just for the winter houses – they have summer ones as well. Most are furnished, and some are not. For instance, there was a beautiful house that was I think 1k L a week with 333 prims. But I didn’t want to furnish it – it’s a vacation, not a permanent residence. The house we are staying in is 850L for 40 prims. But to tell you the truth, I haven’t felt the need to take anything out of my suitcase except my clothes.

Living Room/Dining Room

I have noticed lately that there are a number of people who are feeling stressed, just by reading various SL social media sites. Bloggers feel the need to attend all of the events and blog all of the things. Designers are not only striving to maintain and improve their products, but they have to do this while meeting the needs of all of the various events in SL. Club owners I feel always feel some sort of stress because there is always something  happening that can possibly take away from visitors having a good time at the club. And of course, there is always issues that come up in relationships (friend or intimate) that can threaten the peace. In my observations, some people have decided to take a break, and others are starting to suffer either mentally or physically.

Bathroom

One of the reasons why some of us get stressed is because it is easy to get involved in various projects in SL – that is if you know where to look. As we pile on project after project, all the individual stressors take their toll on us mentally. I think this is why I feel like I don’t have anything to blog, even though I can look on my to-do list and find that there are plenty of topics that I can blog about. When this happens, I try to talk about something that’s happening with me right now to break out of feeling this way.

Bedroom

One thing that I learned while being on vacation is that I definitely need more winter clothing. I decided to wear one of my favorite outfits on my first day.

Turning back the hands of time

New @ C88

I can’t believe that I actually got into Collabor88 yesterday! As soon as I got in, I cammed in really close so all I could see were the displays. Since Seraphim SL had not blogged it yet (again, super early lol), I cammed around the place, letting each vendor rez so I could see what every store had. After I did that, I had very little issues with even trying on demo items to see what I wanted.  And there was a LOT that I wanted…hehe.

After a lot of agonizing, this is the first look that I put together. I was going for a sophisticated, classic look, and I believe I nailed it with the Miso hair from D!va, Ria skin from Belleza (first time in a while that I’ve bought a skin with lipstick added to it), and the dress/collar from Maitreya. I have on shoes from Hucci, also from this round’s C88, but they are not shown in the photo ( the photos that I took were not to my liking and would not do the shoes justice).

I will be going back…just not sure when because the crowds are craaazy!
