What’s happening? Some quick updates and stuff

Hey guys! I decided to do a blog post because it has been a bit since I have done a proper one. Also, I got tired of seeing how long has it been since I last posted on my FB page:

You Haven’t Posted in 19 Days
People who like Monica Querrien haven’t heard from you in a while.

So what has me so distracted?  I’m just going to write in list form what I have been up to lately, and what’s on my mind.

1. I finally got my new house!

I am not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I haven’t had a proper home since the end of February. It took me a while to get used to my new parcel, and to find a house that didn’t eat up my prims (and then to decorate it – omg lol). So when Spargel & Shine had a sale, I picked up this little gem here.

The San Guerlain Cameo

Hey guys! Today I want to showcase a beautiful set from Chop Zuey. It is called the San Guerlain Cameo, and can currently be found at the Designer Showcase for 50% off the regular price! Now, I don’t know about you, but when Belle features her items for 50% off, it’s a good thing to take advantage! This round will end on the 31st, so you only have a few more days left.

I like this set because it’s an intricate piece of work. With 4 different necklaces and a choker, you can wear all or part of the set with your outfits, depending on how causal or formal you are dressed. When I first saw the ad, it reminded me of candy because of the white pearls and the colorful pink gems.

An Artful Display

Hello! Today I wanted to play with dark lighting again. You can look at some of my previous attempts here and here.

I had bought the Lelutka hair from Hair Fair (which ends soon, so go there), and was already wearing a swimsuit from Ghee. You can find it at the Aloha Fair, which I have blogged about in my last post. I will be doing another post soon so you can see more of the swimsuit, along with other items Ghee is offering. So once I had the hair and the swimsuit, I added some accessories. I really liked Chop Zuey’s Black Night, Silver Moon from the Vincent in Aries collection. The choker especially seemed to polish my overall look. I really liked the contrast the black stones had with the silver.

Creative Forum @ Indie Teepee with Trouble Dethly and Delicate Flower

Hey guys! I have 2 topics of interest today. First, I wanted to share with you all my new profile picture! I normally change it once a season, but I hadn’t changed my last photo since October. So, here it is!

Moni-Summer-2016_01111web3
Hair: =DeLa* “Sahara” Browns  (@ Uber)

Skin:Glam Affair – Luna skin – Jamaica
Makeup: [mock] Bonjour Matte Lipstick [Turkish Rose]
[mock] Glitter Pop Eshadow in Jeweled Lake
Jewelry: Chop Zuey: The Dirty Shepherdess Necklace
Earthstones: EarthStones The Diamond Stud – Pear/Gold
Top (also got the pants but not seen): Hucci Yebil Top – Midnight (@ Uber)

The second (and much longer) topic I would like to talk about is about Indie Teepee. One of my friends informed me that there was a discussion panel at Indie Teepee featuring Delicate Flower & Trouble Dethly on July 12th at noon SLT. I have had the pleasure of meeting Trouble before, and I have seen Delicate around the grid and on Plurk. So, I thought it would be interesting to head on over to see what was happening.

I was not sure on what Indie Teepee was about. We have so many events that come up, and we run to shop and purchase items. But many of us do not take the time as to why the event was created. I grabbed this from Scarlet Schadenfreude (evelynscarlet)’s picks, who is the Founder / Creative Director of Indie Teepee.

“Just as Second Life is a home to so many people from all walks of life, Indie Teepee aims to be the roof under which these same people may discover, enjoy and appreciate the diversity and creativity that could only previously be experienced in the real world.

Indie Teepee brings people together through their love of song and art – breaking down barriers and providing a haven for music genres like indie, alternative, rock, electronic dance music and hiphop. This year, we take it a step further to include theatre performances, photography exhibitions, a feature-length machinima and a creative forum.

The success of our inaugural event in 2015 has inspired us to make sure that 2016’s Indie Teepee is a far more welcoming and cosier dwelling for everyone. In this home, there are no strangers, just friends you haven’t met yet.”

According to the moderator, Chris (nathanaelwest), today we would hear from both
Trouble Memphis Dethly (trouble.dethly) and Delicate T. Flower (awylder1) on their day-to-day lives & motivations for their creative outlets. Trouble is the founder of Eclipse Magazine, and Del is the co-owner of Seraphim (Heidi Halberstadt is the other co-owner).

What I did was to attempt to summarize what was said (on voice) during the hour. I tried to keep it as accurate as possible.

Are Perceptions Reality: How people perceive us in Second Life

I read a blog post by Zivaah Darling several days ago. She talked about how some people perceived her in Second Life. You can read about it here. She then asked proposed this question:

Now the major question is; what would you do?

Change your personality to become friends or seek people more open to accept you the way you are?

Now, this reminds me of a RP post I did a while back (before I came to SL) entitled “Are Perceptions Reality?” And the take home message was yes, it can be. If people perceive you a certain way, it can significantly affect you and your lifestyle.

My thoughts on June’s Luxe Box

Hey everyone! If you haven’t heard, Luxe Box has released its second subscription box to its group members. For those who do not know what Luxe Box is, for 1500 L you get access to 12 designers’ new releases. Even though you do not get to see what you are getting beforehand, these are all quality designers. For those who are used to buying fatpacks of items, this SL subscription box will be right up your alley. If you are the type to buy 1-2 items at a time, the 1500L can be your monthly indulgence. There is always at least one “WOW!” item, and if you are a fan of one of the participating stores, it can be a real treat. You can join (or rejoin) on July 1st, and all past Luxe boxes will be on sale for 2000L (for active subscribers).

Luxe Box June 2016 - Second Life

I think he was trying to take me somewhere…I had asked him his name so that I could add it to the hud, and then all of sudden he started to fly…*winks*

Skybox: Scarlet Creative – Alaouite Skybox
Hair: Lamb – Prove It
Dress: Tee*fy Sabrina Dress
Boots: Reign Estee Heels
Bear (sparkles not included): MishMish – Beary ice Cream

I had fun taking this photo after I walked around the skybox. I actually used the unpacking animation from Exposeur (who is having a closing sale until the end of June), and made the box transparent so I could still use the pose.

Okay – on to my take on the June Luxe Box!
