Personality Insights

A few days ago, someone mentioned a website that can determine your personality by analyzing your writing. I decided to test this by using two blog posts and part of a role-play story that I co-wrote a while back.

Blog post 1: The influence of Flickr on Second Life Blogging

You are unconventional.

You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. You are unconcerned with art: you are less concerned with artistic or creative activities than most people who participated in our surveys. And you are laid-back: you appreciate a relaxed pace in life.

You are motivated to seek out experiences that provide a strong feeling of well-being.

You are relatively unconcerned with taking pleasure in life: you prefer activities with a purpose greater than just personal enjoyment. You consider helping others to guide a large part of what you do: you think it is important to take care of the people around you.

Blog post 2: Blogger sponsorship in Second Life

You are shrewd and skeptical.

You are unconcerned with art: you are less concerned with artistic or creative activities than most people who participated in our surveys. You are proud: you hold yourself in high regard, satisfied with who you are. And you are philosophical: you are open to and intrigued by new ideas and love to explore them.

Experiences that give a sense of well-being hold some appeal to you.

You consider achieving success to guide a large part of what you do: you seek out opportunities to improve yourself and demonstrate that you are a capable person. You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done.

Story excerpt

You are social and confident.

You are confident: you are hard to embarrass and are self-confident most of the time. You are outgoing: you make friends easily and feel comfortable around other people. And you are assertive: you tend to speak up and take charge of situations, and you are comfortable leading groups.

Your choices are driven by a desire for well-being.

You are relatively unconcerned with taking pleasure in life: you prefer activities with a purpose greater than just personal enjoyment. You consider helping others to guide a large part of what you do: you think it is important to take care of the people around you.

I did not share the story on here because as I said, it was a co-writing. I have shown it to a couple of people in SL, but I do not feel comfortable showing it on a large platform such as my blog.

I think all of these characteristics touch on different aspects of my personality. I do consider myself to be empathetic and look to help out others when I can. The confidence aspect I can work on – I feel like compared to others, I may appear to be very confident. But when it comes to working on my own projects, I tend to lose that due to my perfectionism. So that is something I need to work on.

What does the personality insights test say about you? Feel free to leave a comment and let me know do you get something different or similar to mine.

Hey guys! I would like to wish you all a happy Halloween 🙂 I may or may not do a blog post specifically geared to Halloween – I’ll see how I feel later. But, I wanted to let you know about the hair at booN – fatpacks are only 78L!

Today is the last day of the sale ( I know….but it took me a while to pick out which hairs I wanted to get :D)

I like booN becasue they have unique hairs. The more elaborate hairs can be used for a special night out when you are dressed to the nines. Simpler updos can be used for a more casual look, or a tamer evening hair.

Enchantment – August Round

***I am not a happy camper. I was 90% finished with this post (just had to finish adding credits), and I was typing “Manifeste” for the poses that I used. Somehow it overwrote everything that I had (pictures, text, etc) and then WordPress AUTOSAVES it. So instead of an awesome blog post, I had “nifeste” instead. All that work gone..*sobs*

  Fatima by -Pixicat-

Another round of Enchantment is underway! I am wearing one of the prizes offered in this round – the Fatima dress by Pixicat. In case you are not familiar with how Enchantment works, every participating store will offer an item for sale as part of the event. The theme this round is Bluebeard, so if you are not familiar with who Bluebeard was, you can learn more about him on the Enchantment website. Now, every item has a card that needs to be stamped. By visiting all of the participating stores to stamp your card via the kiosk, you then will be told the location of where the prizes are. If you want to see what the prizes look like, you can look on the Enchantment page.

Hair: Emo-tions – Josy
Shirt and earrings: Indyra Originals – Philosophy Tank (sand) & Ear cuffs
Shorts: loveme – cotton candy shorts ( lemon pie)

This round the prizes are located on a watery sim, compared to the garden area as it was last round.

Nails: Bella Elephante – Lock and Key
Hair: [LCKY] Rene – DIPPP Pack
Makeup:
La Malvada Mujer – Bi
 mock cosmetics– Starlet Curiousity Makeover
Poses: Manifeste

The nails from Bella Elephante are one of many items that you can buy for the Enchantment event. You need the Slink hands in order to use the HUD that comes in the package.

I just want to say that the shorts from the previous photo, as well as the hair in this one are from stores that I have recently discovered. The loveme store has some cute items in there, and lcky is having an 80% off sale on all of their hair! i liked the soft colors on the shorts, and the bold colors and hair at lcky.

How to look good in Second Life for less

Indyra – Merci
Essenz – Toronto

Hey guys! I was just reading a conversation not too long ago on how to look good and not break the bank. Well, if you stop at the Cosmopolitan Sale Room, they have some good items there this round! I am wearing the Merci dress from Indyra Originals, along with the Essenz Toronto shoes in black. Essenz is currently having a 50% off sale at their mainstore to celebrate their 1st anniversary. So my suggestion? Grab these shoes, and then check out their mainstore ^^

Indyra – Minka Crystal necklace & rings (black)
LeLutka – Francine (dark brunette – Burnt)

Indyra also has a set of jewelry for sale at the Cosmopolitan Sale Room. This LeLutka hair can be found currently at Hair Fair. The flower hair accessory is color changeable, and can be changed into copper, black, white, gold, silver, or platinum. Hair Fair has a number of free or dollarbie hairs that is sure to make you look fabulous.

Even though I got this skin from June’s C88, you can still get a nice skin from Glam Affair for a bargain price. For today only, you can get this lovely skin for only 50L at the Glam Affair mainstore. This skin is just a sample from their new line of skins – you can click through to Aida’s Flickr to check out the different shades. If you miss out on the sale today, you can always check out the current round of C88 and grab the Kallisto skin. Or, you can check out the sexy ROMP event and get additional tones.

7 Group Gifts in 7 Days!

indyra-grand-re-opening

Indyra Originals is having a grand re-opening of their mainstore. The new build looks great – it looks sleek on the outside, and on the inside it’s easier to look for what you need. There is even a lounge area where you can sit and cam shop! ^^

This is the group gift from Friday – Angeline in Blush color. Actually, I was able to pick it up just now, so if you hurry you still may be able to get this pretty dress. What is not shown here is the flower neck corsage. I can see myself using it in a variety of ways – don’t you just love accessories? 🙂

See you at Indyra’s!

How I spent my Valentine’s Day

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day?

Skin: Glam Affair|Hair: Wasabi Pills
Lingerie: Baiastice |Shoes: N-Core
Makeup: Mons, Pink Fuel
Couch: Trompe Loeil

Hey guys! Hope you all had a great day Friday 🙂 Since I didn’t have any plans in RL, I wanted to do some stuff inworld. Unfortunately, all of this snow shoveling has made my muscles sore, so I kinda conked out halfway through my festivities 😛 But what did I do?

The lingerie that I am wearing above is from Baiastice. This store really did outdid itself with lingerie for the holiday, considering the fact that it’s not really known for its lingerie. If you look at their flickr, they came out with several sets.

The Fantasy Angels Fair

I went to the Fantasy Angels Fair fashion show, which was a Finesmith Muse project hosted by Tyra Eiren. I received notecards from several stores that participated in the fashion show – here is an excerpt of what the show was about:

“THE FANTASY ANGELS FAIR” hosted by Tyra Eiren will last the whole weekend and which will give aperture with the grand show “The Angels has come down to FINESMITH with Glitter” on Friday, February 14th, at 2 pm SLT and that will count with the participation of large and well known Supermodels and more than ten designers that have joined and created each a fantasy outfit in a unique environment of magic and romanticism and that you could purchase here during and after the show in the venue area during the whole weekend.”

There was a lot of good stores participating, and I managed to get some photos. Unfortunately my mesh capped out during the show and stuff stopped rezzing for me. Just check out the link above to see what I did manage to get.

I got all dressed up to go, too!

I got invited to go to the One Billion Rising event, and I was supposed to go to the Mingle party (remember the date auction and hunt? ^^), but I was just too pooped out. I did message the person who won the bid on me to thank him for doing so.

Okay…this post took waaay too long to do lol. Have fun looking at the photos, and stay tuned for more fashion and fun! ^^

Black Friday Sales & The Arcade

Walking in NYC SL

Happy December, everyone! As the Black Friday sales in Second Life wind down, I think it’s time for me to share some of my finds ^^ Also, the Arcade opened its doors to the public today. I was able to play the machines by flying on the adjacent sim (something I like to call the “bootleg” Arcade haha), and I actually won the Exile rare!

I think this is the best item that I have seen at the Arcade to date. I say this because anything that would make me want to go and spend Lindens at the Arcade and not wait for the yard sales has to be something special. I have most of the different hairs, and it’s all the hairs that I could possibly want. I have on the Light Blonde hair (not sure of the exact color), and the Glimmer Dress HUD comes with 10 different textures.

bfriday_005

I bought several items from Indyra Originals. I thought I was going to get sensory overload when I saw the whole store was discounted to 95L per single item. So even this Ireben Carry-all color change bag was 95L. I can only imagine how much it is at full price. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that the red that came with this bag didn’t match the red in my dress or shoes. So when in doubt, go classic! ^^

bfriday_003Hucci has a big sale on certain shoes. These Ikela onyx boots are limited edition, so hurry and get these and the multi animal prints that they have. I was telling one of my friends that I had gotten confused when I demoed these boots. The demo had the regular colors, and I don’t think the names of the colors was on there. So when I saw a black boot, I thought, “Oh! This must be onyx!” So when I bought the boots and saw these, for a second I felt I was baited and switched. Then I looked carefully at the vendor and of the photos and I was like, “Doh!” It didn’t help that a bunch of women with Phat Azzes were surrounding the shoes, so I couldn’t even get near the shoes. Don’t get me wrong – I demo’ed the ass myself but when you have several around in the same area…it can be a bit much lol.

See you next time!

What type of blogger are you?

indyra-dress_0011Skin: 7DS; Dress: Indyra Originals; Shoes: Hucci

I was reading Sophee Mojo’s blog the other day, and she asked the question, “What type of blogger are you?” She then went to talk about the different categories that people fall into. You can read more about it on her blog, but I’m going to talk about my version of the categories here.

1. The Social  Commentator: These are the blogs you go to when you want to know what’s happening in Second Life. From the technical to the fun stuff, reading these sorts of blogs will keep you in the know.

2. The Picture Pleaser: I wish I could be a picture pleaser! These bloggers take photos and everyone oohs and ahhs over them. I like looking at their photos because it gives me ideas on how pictures in SL could be taken. Some people say it’s boring to look at photos only, but I disagree.

3. The Showcaser: These bloggers “show” the fashion (or furniture, etc). They go into detail about what they are wearing, and they credit everything (or most things). Many even give landmarks to where you can get the items in SL (tytytytytyty). I don’t believe that crap about landmarks being out of date. As long as you know as of the time  the post was published that the link is good, then it’s out of your hands. It’s not like an event where if for some reason the event had to relocate, you would be responsible in making sure everyone knows where to go. If people really want an item, they will go and look for it (raises her hand).

4. The Reviewer: These are hard to come by I think in SL, because of all the backlash that comes with it. These bloggers critique the items and point out the positive aspects, as well as what could be improved. We have a lot of sensitive people on SL, but it still surprises me how many people would rather their circle of friends praise them than to improve and gain a whole new customer base by expanding and improving their skill set. I recently had a designer that I was working with end her business relationship with me because I said that a blazer that she had for a hunt item was great, but it needed texture to it (it was a flat blue color). Everyone that I showed the jacket to was like, “Great jacket – but what happened to the texture?”  And it wasn’t in a bad way either…they just thought something had happened to it for it to look like that because everything else looked great.

princess_0141

I think there should be another category…

5. The Pseudo-Blogger: When people think of bloggers, be it people who don’t blog or some designers, they think that bloggers just want free stuff. Don’t get me wrong – there are a few people who ask any and everyone for items…even people who aren’t designers. But in general blogging consists of styling, photography, and presentation. Bloggers juggle this balance all of the time, and they look to improve on these areas.  The reason why these “bloggers” don’t get very far is because people pay attention to who is blogging their items. If you ask for a bunch of stuff and then do not blog it (or blog it in a way that is not pleasing), then you don’t get any more items from them. There are ways to get free stuff without blogging – group gifts, hunts, significant others, working for the store(s) of your choice. With the last one all you would have to be concerned with is styling…and some people skills.

Oh yeah…in case you didn’t get it- don’t be the pseudo-blogger.

Where do I fit in? Well, when I decided that I wanted to blog, I wanted to talk about things that I did in Second Life, because I felt like I had things that I wanted to share with others. Since my number one thing in SL is fashion (shopping, styling, modeling, etc), of course my blog is going to be fashion-heavy. But if I want to talk about houses or cars or work or how I feel, I want a platform where I can talk about it as well. So I would say originally I wanted my blog to be like social commenter, but actually it goes between that and showcaser.

I don’t think my photos are good enough to be a picture pleaser – I probably would have more faves on Flickr lol. Last time I checked 5 faves was the highest that I had. As for reviewing items, I could talk about general issues like people using the mesh templates and since the templates have faulty rigging, the clothing is automatically not rigged right.  Or like the jacket that didn’t have a texture – talk about ways to improve that. Reviewing items like skins – I am not sure. Even when I started SL, I didn’t care whether a skin was super detailed, and wore the same skin for quite some time until I found a skin that I really liked. Now it’s easier for me to find skins that I like because I know who “me” is. A skin that I really liked recently (and talked about a lot) caused one of my friends to demo the skin. When she asked for opinions, most of us said we liked it, but one of her friends said that it looked washed out, and not as detailed as her Belleza skin. So that made her hold off from purchasing. Me on the other hand, would go, “Oh it looks like it’s airbrushed – cool!” and wear the skin. But then again, I’m not going to wear the same skin 24/7, so that wouldn’t matter to me as much.

Mid-Season Replacement

claudette_00413

In my journey of blog reading, I came across WordPress’s Daily Prompt. I think this is a great way to get the creative juices flowing. I decided to do October 11th’s DP: Mid-Season Replacement.

“For many of us the seasons are changing, bouncing unpredictably between cold and warm. Are you glad to be moving into a new season, or wishing for one more week of the old?

I am definitely ready for fall! I don’t really like the super hot weather, so I appreciate the cooler temperatures. The colors grow warmer, the holiday season is approaching, and people gear up for the end of the year and beyond.

Also, the new fashion season is out – the industry has its Fashion Week with the latest styling (and especially in Second Life!), and everyone gets super creative in anticipation for the holiday season.

The only thing about the fall is that you have to be careful about your health. These transition seasons is the highest risk for getting sick because of the fluctuation of temperatures. But I think I’m prepared – I have on a cute belted babydoll top paired with a fux fur shawl. I’m ready!

See you guys next time!
