My Visit to Sansar!

Hey guys! I just got word not too long ago that Sansar was now in open beta! Strawberry Singh has a lot of useful information on Sansar – I recommend watching the videos before downloading the viewer. The avatar and camera controls video is very useful – too bad I didn’t watch beforehand!

As you can see, Sansar is similar to Second Life in that people still haven’t learned to move off the landing point  😀

Ghee Jali Gown – The Perfect Balance

Hey guys! I was exploring another sim today, and  the theme for the sim was perfect for the gown Ghee has for SCALA‘s new event! Yin/Yang started on June 15, and will end on the 30th.

Gown & Headpiece Ghee Jali (@ SCALA’s Yin/Yang event)
Jewelry: Chop Zuey – Sibylline
Hair: Tableau Vivant \\ SL14 gift
Pose: Corpus
Location: Hinansho @ Grooveville

Jali is a couture ensemble inspired by the work of Chinese designer Guo Pei. Besides designing for Chinese celebrities, Pei is probably best known for designing the dress that Rihanna wore for the 2015 Met Gala. If you want to see what Pei has made lately, you can check out the Spring 2017 Couture collection here.

Chop Zuey – Sub Umbra Floreo

What happened to Second Life Wedding Expos? It seems like in my earlier years in Second Life, some organization saw to organize one every year. I even took pictures at a fashion show for an expo once. You got to see a number of dresses (which can come in handy when you want to know which stores make nice dresses), decor, jewelry, and the like.

I checked out a few wedding venues to see where I could showcase this latest jewelry set from Chop Zuey. I still think the best venue is the one that you create for yourself, but hey – I could be wrong.

2017 Spoonful of Sugar Event

The Spoonful of Sugar event is back for another year! Ran by Ever Courtois and Angelique Wickentower, the proceeds from SoS goes to Doctors Without Borders/ Medicins Sans Frontieres.

“MSF provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, and to victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed, or political convictions.”

The event started on March 18, and ends on April 1. If you are unable to make it inworld to participate, you can always make a donation to the charity here. Payment can be made using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card. I didn’t see anything like PayPal listed as a payment option. For more information about the event, you can visit the website.

Chop Zuey is one of the many stores participating in this event.

My Rez Day – 7 years in Second Life

I’m not sure why it seems harder to make this blog post for this rez day. Maybe because for some reason, 7 years in SL is a huge deal for me. I think it’s because when you do something for 7 years, that means that you have put significant time and effort into it. I think the next major rez day will be  10 years in Second Life (if I make it that long).

I will say that I wonder how Sansar will impact my time in Second Life – I may not even want to stay in SL for whatever reason. There were people who were so gung ho about Sansar last year that it seemed like they were ready to leave SL right that instant. Also, there is real life to consider. I have seen plenty of times where changes to RL work, family, health etc. keeps people out of Second Life. I hope that I will always be able to make my own choices, and to leave SL on my terms if the day ever came to pass.

Do you celebrate your rez day? If you do, what do you normally do for it? If not, why not?

I’m back – just in time for the holidays!

Hey guys! I took about a week after I was able to get back into Second Life to look around the place, and to shop! I really had fun for the first time in a while, just shopping and buying what I wanted. Some items I saw on social media while I was away, and others I discovered after I had came back.

Hair: *Besom~Atom
Skin: Glam Affair – Summer v3 – Jamaica – August
Earrings: Chop Zuey – Pentecostal Shoulder Duster Diam Earrings
Top: Stories&Co. Quinn Shirt – Navy (currently @ C88)
Pants: Stories&Co. Party Leggins – Black (currently @ C88)
Shoes: REIGN.- MONETTI HEELS
Pose: (old pose from them) Dare
Location: KOWLOONS GATE REBONE

I wanted to take my time and ease myself back into my routine because I realize now that September & October were pretty much me operating on burnout mode. I never want to feel that way again – so many things to do, and not enough time to do them all. Even my friends tried to tell me that it was just too much happening. Certain activities suddenly required a lot more focus and attention than I was accustomed to, and new responsibilities quickly ate up my time. Now that I am back, I have noticed that I can get my tasks done a lot more quickly. I think in 2017 I will look into planning some scheduled breaks so I don’t reach that level of burnout again.

The pictures that you see today were taken at KOWLOONS GATE REBONE. I had fun exploring the area – felt like a real life Chinatown in the city.

The outfit that I am wearing is from Flowey. I got it from this month’s C88 round, as well as a few other items. A trend that I have seen lately is that designers are making fitted sleeves for the mesh body. For those who know me, I like to wear Slink hands/feet with the Maitreya body. So when designers do things like make shoes that rig to the foot and leg, I have to switch to Maitreya feet. I have not done this with the hands…I find that if I can’t make myself fit into a Slink size, I will just not buy the top.

1. Bento hits the grid

I admit that I haven’t demo’ed any of the Bento heads yet, but when I do it will most likely be the ones from Catwa and Lelutka. A number of people have gotten pretty good results, and as a result they are starting to look like themselves again (pre-mesh head). This is a good thing! I was tempted to get the Vista Bento hands, but I may pass. Maitreya is rumored to get an update soon for Bento, whereas Slink is still working on updating their alpha hud and body. In my opinion, Slink should had been on the forefront of Bento to get back some users that they have lost this year due to the increasing popularity of Maitreya. But we will see what happens next year with that.

2. Advent calendars

I used to love Advent calendars – I would find as many as I could and visit several places a day to get all of the items. This year I am only making an effort to visit two places – the one at KittyCats and the 12 Days of Christmas one at Chop Zuey. You do need to be in the Chop Zuey group though to get their items. If you are still looking for more places to find Advent calendars, you can check out Fab Free’s list.

3. Discord Designs

APPEAL: Discord Designs - So here's the thing...

I saw this on Flickr the other day from the owner of Discord Designs ( a hair store):

(excerpt from Flickr):

Hi… It’s Kalli… long time owner of Discord Designs in Second Life. I made hair, braids, dreads, beards and all that sort of thing with a degree of manic intensity from July 2007 through July 2014… although even then there was a definite drop in releases from late 2012.

So… here’s the deal… If you wish to see anything more from me, please come by Moonsong before the 23rd and buy something… Anything… to allow me to get through this month’s tier payment. I’m around 9K shy at the moment… so at the end of the day that’s just fifty purchases.)

I went there and was looking for a donations jar or something of the sort, but didn’t find anything. Not sure if I will have time to look for hair I may want. I might go back before the 23rd though. If you ever bought anything from Discord Designs or generally like what they have, stop by!

Aleutia @ the Color Me Project

Hey guys! Have you been to the Color Me Project yet? You only have a few days until the current round is over on September 3rd. The theme celebrates all of the colors of Jamaica, and Aleutia does an excellent job on conveying the vibrant and bold color schemes.

Dress: [Aleutia] Bandu (Midori on the Rocks)  (@ CMP)
Hair: Tableau Vivant \\ Sari hair  Browns (@ C88)
Skin: -Glam Affair – Luna skin – Jamaica
Shoes:  N-core STILETTO “Gradient”
Location: Field of Dreams

The Bandu dress comes in 10 different colors, with names such as Ocho Rios and Limoncello. I have on Midori on the Rocks, which sports a cool green and black theme. I added some shoes from N-Core that are duo-toned in yellow and black to go with the vibe. Now all I need is an actual Midori and I will be all set ^^
