Face Off

Hey guys! I have been noticing lately that there are incredible finds for bargain skins in Second Life. I found out about it because I was looking for an Asian skin for a new project at The Powerhouse Collective. Sadly, the project fell through, but I still wanted to style something.

Nina was the one who told me about guapa. I was looking at Nonnative‘s GIO skin, but something about Rose resonated with me. I felt like I didn’t need to make a lot of tweaks to the shape in order for it to look great. I think it’s important for stylists to experiment with different skin tones in order to become familiar with them. Similar to a RL hair stylist or makeup artist, it’s not acceptable for a client to go to them, only to receive subpar or refusal of service due to their lack of inexperience.

What I like about both guapa and Nonnative is that 1. both skins are part of the discounted sales weekend. So you can get a new face skin for anywhere from L$ 60 – 99 . 2. Both of their body skins are from Velour. Velour’s body skins are only L$299. So that means as long as you get skins that have the same body applier, you can get new skins for under L$500. Isn’t that a steal? Even if my go-to skin was half off, this would still be cheaper. This could offer a lot of possibilities….

For those who are saying, “Where have you been – this has been happening for a while now!”. I know, I know. I remember months ago someone saying how VELOUR skins were too shiny, and someone else said to get the Venus skin vs the Ipadema. Also, I heard someone say why were all of the smaller skin designers letting Velour do their body skins? But…I thought Glam Affair was making skin tones to match up with VELOUR skins? It’s all about cross-promotion. If people are not spending tons of money buying skins for both the body and the face, they will have more money to buy all of the things.
